Sure it could, make sure the back of the bath toy is sealed tightly. And it's better rinse it with fresh water after using.
How do you clean the inside?
You can wipe the bath toy with a cloth then air dry it after using.
If you really want to clean inside, then unscrew the screws to open inside, you'd better use a cotton swab or other small things.
Be careful while you open to clean inside, or the bath toy will be damaged.
We've had two of these toys and they only last 1-2 baths before they stop working completely. Is there a trick?
Maybe you're getting defective ones? We've used ours probably 6 times and it's still working. Just used it last night and no problems.

My daughter LOVES THIS!!!! She always looks forward to bath time because of this toy! Super simple to use! Add in 3 triple A batteries, put it in water and the toy will automatically do its thing! Want the toy to stop? Just lift it out of the water! Great distraction for the kiddos! I will be buying another one for extra fun during bath time.
I just purchased 2 of these.... 1 of the white whale and 1 grey whale for my 2 boys. These are so much fun and my kids love them!!! They both light up and spray a good amount of water. Very pleased with my purchase!
Thank you, everything has come. The packing is very interesting. Very Long went to Ukraine, more than 2 months. I suspect that this is the workers of Ukr mail tried. The toy looks like it's not new. And they opened it.
